Welcome to IMS-Lab

We are interested in antibiotic resistance and infection biology combining molecular biology, cryoEM and X-ray crystallography

We focus on MRSA: Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus

We are interested in understanding staphylococcal pathogenesis. Specifically we study gene expression and DNA replication using staphylococcal bacteriophages and other mobile genetic elements involved in antimicrobial resistance. Additionally, we are interested in phage therapy as an alternative to antibiotics or as coadyuvants.

Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine (WCMM) Umeå University

The lab is located in Sweden, at Umeå University and funded by the Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine (WCMM) – Infection Biology. We are affiliated with the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics, Faculty of Medicine. The lab space is in the KBC (Chemical Biological Centre) Building. The KBC hosts a large number of outstanding facilities equipped with cutting-edge technologies, such as the Umeå Core Facility for Electron Microscopy and the X-Ray Crystallography Platform among others.
